The Opportunity Gap: Millions Left on the Table

Nationally, billions in financial aid go unclaimed each year because the application process is a maze. This disproportionately affects first-generation and low-income students who may lack dedicated support systems.

$3.75 Billion

In federal Pell Grants went unclaimed by eligible high school graduates nationally in a single year.

Only 51%

Of students who don't complete the FAFSA enroll in college, compared to 92% of those who do.

This is money already committed β€” sitting there waiting for students who simply need to fill out the forms.

There's Probably a Debt-Free Path for You

The key is knowing your options and pursuing them. Here's what happens when 25,000 students apply to QuestBridge each year.

QuestBridge Application Outcomes Flow Chart

The bottom line: If you're willing to pursue every pathway β€” QuestBridge, state programs, generous aid schools β€” you can graduate debt-free. But you have to apply.

About ConwayUP

Our Mission

ConwayUP is a local support program created by Conway students and educators to help identify students who may be a strong fit for college scholarships and opportunities β€” and to walk alongside them through the process.

Who We Are

Founded by Caroline Chrysler and Joshua Mendoza, both Class of 2026 students at Conway High School, ConwayUP emerged from a simple realization: too many qualified students miss out on life-changing scholarships simply because they don't know about them or find the application process overwhelming.

What We Do

We connect high-achieving students from low-income backgrounds with full scholarship opportunities at colleges across the nation. Our goal is to increase access to higher education for students who may not realize how much opportunity is available to them.

Our Approach

Through partnerships with local businesses and community members, we're working to raise $25K+ in pledged Boost Grants β€” an investment that we believe can unlock over $1 million in existing scholarships for Conway students. We pay students for completing college applications because we recognize that the overwhelming maze of paperwork is often the biggest barrier to accessing these life-changing opportunities.

We provide guidance, resources, and support throughout the entire application process β€” from identifying opportunities to submitting applications and securing financial aid.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who actually qualifies for these programs?

Students in Arkansas public or private high schools. Income limits vary by program: QuestBridge typically under $65K AGI (Adjusted Gross Income), Arkansas programs range from $60K to $100K AGI depending on the specific university. Check individual program pages for exact requirements.

Do I need a 30-plus ACT to get free college?

No. QuestBridge is test-flexible but highly competitive. State promise programs often require only a 19 ACT (or SAT equivalent) and a solid GPA.

Is this only for straight-A students?

High grades help, but many last-dollar grants focus on financial need and basic academic readinessβ€”not perfection.

What paperwork is involved?

Every program requires the FAFSA; some add the CSS Profile, the Arkansas Challenge form, or school-specific docs. We post step-by-step checklists for each path.

What is the $250 Boost Grant?

Local businesses and community members pledge $250 Boost Grants to reward Conway students who complete every required application. These grants help students overcome the final barriers to accessing life-changing opportunities. Awards are paid only after ConwayUP verifies 100% completion of all required forms. Currently 10 grants are available on a first-come, first-served basis. We're working to raise additional funds for more students.

Does ConwayUP charge a fee?

Never. We're a volunteer effort connecting Conway students to scholarships and local sponsorship pledges.

Are donations tax deductible?

We are working to partner with a qualified non-profit to ensure all pledges are tax deductible. We will provide updates on tax status before requesting pledge payment.

How is pledge money used?

100% of pledged funds go directly to students as Boost Grants or to cover necessary processing fees. No money is saved or held back - our goal is to award every dollar raised.
